About Us

Beaconsfield Lawn Tennis Club (BLTC) is a friendly club which caters for players of all standards.

Teams

We enter men’s, ladies’, mixed and veterans teams in the county and local leagues throughout the year. The Winter match season has finished - see results page for details and match reports. This summer, Bucks is introducing an extra format into the Bucks Shield. This will allow clubs to field doubles teams of four as well as, or instead of, the usual format of six players per team. The idea is to allow some of the smaller clubs to enter, and in addition provide a format in which matches will take less time for those who have difficulty with the six set format.

This summer, BLTC are entering the following teams:
Mens - two teams of six players, and in addition two teams of four players. The teams of four will be aimed at players who would not otherwise get match play and will include both senior members and the older intermediates.

Ladies - three teams of six players, with the existing fourth team reverting to a four player format, and one further team of four, bringing the total number of teams to five this year.

Mixed - there will be one team of four players entered into a mixed league which will use the same format as for the winter Farnham Common league i.e. two mixed doubles followed by one men's and one ladies doubles.

It’s hoped that more members will take up the opportunity to play matches this year.

See this summer's match schedule here

Club Sessions and Tournaments

A family-friendly feel pervades throughout this medium-sized club - we have several open club sessions each week, and organise regular friendly tournaments throughout the year.  Club nights are held on a Thursday during the summer, and once a month there are cheese and wine evenings which makes for a good social occasion. There are also monthly Friday morning tournaments followed by lunch in the clubhouse, or a BBQ outside in the summer. This culminates in the popular BLTC Christmas tournament and lunch, which will be held on 12th December this year. There are also two Bank Holiday tournaments planned in 2008 – on Monday 5th and Monday 25th August.

Juniors and Intermediates

We have a thriving section for younger players, and the Beaconsfield School of Lawn Tennis (BSLT), which adjoins the club, delivers some of the best coaching in the region. All BLTC members qualify for a special discounted rate for coaching from BSLT.
